In this episode of Nutrition Science Bites, Dr Alan Barclay and Professor Clare Collins discuss differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes and whether it is possible to reverse type 2 diabetes once you have been diagnosed with it, or not. The conversation covers what nutrition and body composition changes are associated with reversal, and strategies used to achieve that and whether, or for how long, they could last. They discuss effectiveness of very low energy diets, and why support from healthcare professionals matters. Dr Barclay also highlights the long-term management of diabetes and the importance of lifestyle changes to maintain health and prevent longer term diabetes complications.
